About Tinge | Unique, Handcrafted Reverse-Dye Hoodies & T-Shirts
The first time I ever made a tie dye shirt was when I was 5 years old in kindergarten. My teacher went around the room asking each student which colors they wanted to use in order to plan accordingly. When she came to me, I said that I had chosen pink and green because I wanted it to look like a watermelon. Although we were supposed to be able to pick whatever colors we wanted, she said that I couldn’t use those colors because they would mix to make brown. I insisted that I still wanted to go for it but she said I had to pick new colors and I reluctantly went with red, orange, and yellow.
Fast forward 20 some years to my senior year of college, I was cleaning out my room and found 6 packets of different colored dye that I had bought a couple years back but never got around to using. Light green, dark green, yellow, orange, pink and black. The last and only other time I had made a tie dye shirt was that day in Kindergarten. In light of this it seemed obvious that the first color combo I should try would be pink and green. 24 hours later and it was done. Not only did it not turn brown but it is my favorite shirt I have made to date.
The idea of making something that would produce an uncertain outcome was a really exciting feeling. I started making more and more and eventually I found that my favorite medium was reverse tie dye, which is basically a combo of regular tie-dye and bleach tie dye. I found that the unique look and feel of all the pieces was my favorite part. Now, because of numerous requests from friends and coworkers, I started this website to share my creations with the world!
I often base my batches on requests I get from friends & family, so if you want to see more reverse tie dye hoodies, t-shirts, or another product, reach out at my contact page or DM me on Instagram to get your request in! Thank you for all the support!
